Meera Raval

Meera enjoys working with children and adults who have a variety of speech and language disorders. She strongly believes in collaborating with other professionals to provide the best possible care for her clients and their families.

At Nancy Foreman and Associates, Meera Raval specializes in working with individuals who present with tongue thrust. Tongue thrust refers to the pattern that the tongue uses to swallow. When tongue thrust occurs, the tongue moves from the back to the front of the mouth, instead of from the front to the back of the mouth. Tongue thrusting can affect the teeth. If a person presents with tongue thrust, the pressure of the tongue on the teeth can cause the teeth to be become misaligned. Speech is also frequently affected by the tongue thrust. For sounds such as /s/ and /z/, the tongue may come forward or air may leak out of the sounds of the mouth. Meera specializes in re-educating the swallowing muscles to change the swallowing pattern.

Meera Raval, M.A., CCC-SLP, received her Bachelor’s degree from Trinity University in 2003 and her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Our Lady of the Lake University in 2006.
