Kayla Smith is a Speech Language Pathologist, that earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Linguistics from University of Lethbridge in Alberta, Canada in 2009. Complete her Master of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology at the University of Wyoming in 2013. For the first 4 years of her career, she worked solely with the 2-5-year-old population in a school district and home health setting in WA. During that time, she grew to love early intervention, working with children in their natural environments, and seeing the joy that families experienced as their children learned and grew. Once she moved to the Houston area in 2017, she spent 2.5 years screening, assessing, and treating elementary-aged students in a local school district. She continues to work in the school district, and now is working with intermediate and high school students. Throughout Kayla SLP career, she worked with a variety of disorders, including apraxia, autism, intellectual impairments, cerebral palsy, Down’s syndrome, dementia, strokes, TBIs, stuttering, articulation, receptive, expressive, and pragmatic language, agenesis of the corpus callosum, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), and many more.
